When every text message is a shadow of what it should be

When a request for a loan can feel like a personal attack
When we shut up in silence or prophetically brag
Anxious show
Worried brow
We're wondering when we'll be paid

That inconvenient time of the month

That could mean saying no to that coveted hangout
Offertories at church are really a sacrifice that cost us
By force diets, healthier meals but we aren't slimming
Discipline
Self sanctions
Why can't we be paid earlier?
