One of THOSE days...

So today is one of those days
When nothing went as planned
Nothing really went my way
Slowwww at work
Because my work depended on others
Who could not even be available
To do what I needed to progress
But the song goes:
"Count Your blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done"

So here I need a surprise
I do need a pleasant one
So I begin by counting my blessings
Naming them one by one

I went through a trouble free day
It could have been worse
And I have met trouble filled days
This is not one of them

I did what was expected of me
So I did not get my superiors upset
It just didn't go as planned
But thankfully, I didn't have to face an unplanned reprimand

I guess I am getting surprised
And I've started smiling

I went to join our aerobics session at work
I could do most of it
And the pain in my system from it
Tells me something good
At least I am alive to feel it
And I am working something out
My dedication to this has gone up
And for that too, I am thankful

Oh wow, naming this is fun
I am feeling much better than I thought I would

I sat down this evening and remembered the words of Jesus
"... do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own"
Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
And I am thankful, Lord, for giving me this Word
Because now I can emphasise this
And let go of today's mishaps
And not expect the worst
And lose sleep over the worse
Each day has enough of its own
And I have seen today's
My God says I should not worry over tomorrow's
My God is great and kind and merciful
Would His Word have no power,
To absorb my mistakes
And those of others
And the unplanned happenings today,
Enough to still take care of my tomorrow?
His power, never mine, tomorrow...

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good

And now my list goes on...

And not only that

My heart now has a song

My God is greater than it all
And my praise makes me stand in awe of Him
Seeing Him
His love His goodness His omnipotence
And I stand amazed
Surprised
At what my God can do
In such a day like mine

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:2 (NIV)
I started this with a list of complaints
A list of what went wrong
A list of what was never done
And now I praise my Maker
Because I have breath
And my heart is glad
To have seen His works
In one of these days
I am surprised
To His glory, never mine
And with your day, today.... What will you do?
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts
1 Chronicles 16:9
